International Women's Day: 'Millions' join Spain strike

Summary

Women workers in Spain are marking International Women's Day with an unprecedented strike targeting gender inequality and sexual discrimination.nions said 5.3 million women had joined the 24-hour strike, backed by 10 unions and some of Spain's top women politicians.
Feminist groups only want women to strike to show how important their absence is but Spanish law does not allow for single-gender strikes and men were welcome to support it.

In Saudi Arabia, women exercised a new freedom by relaxing the restrictions on their freedoms under crown prince Mohammed bin Salman: they went running
A similar race took place in Mosul, Iraq, where the women said they wanted to recover their rights after the brutal occupation by the Islamic State, which ended in July.

Vocabulary

Conservative:

Opinion

I believe that equal pay is essential and I do not know how it is possible for both sexes to do the same job and for women to pay less, some think because of the pregnancy, but it is not an excuse since nowadays men can be get the leave by fraternity ,So where is the equality of rights?
Therefore, I am in favor of this day for the reason stated and for others that I have not stated but that end up being unfair.

Scientists Study How Climate Change Affects Horses

Summary

The diversification of the species of the Equinae emerged some 18 million years ago with 140 species, currently only seven remain: the kiang, the Przewalski horse, the Grévy zebra, the plains zebra, the mountain zebra, the Asian wild ass and the African wild ass.
The classical theory suggested that this explosion was linked to the appearance of grasslands where grasslands predominate, now, however it is known that it is due to environmental factors, such as climate changes. The horses emerged in North America then moved to Eurasia through the Bering Strait and from there to Africa.
In conclusion, what is believed to have happened, as indicated by the paleontologist and his colleagues, is that environmental factors, such as climate changes, generated fragmented ecosystems with enough food to sustain a multitude of isolated and genetically different populations, although physically similar.

Vocabulary

Grasslands: Prades
Flooding:
Inundació
Droughts: Sequeres
Mammals: Mamífers

Opinion

This news is a clear example of the consequences of climate change. If there had not been said change we would now have many animal spices.
From these conclusions we can affirm that biodiversity requires study in its entirety and with its three levels of organization: genetic, specific and ecosystemic

Sharing the (self) love: the rise of the selfie and digital narcissism

Summary

Narcissism has evolved throughout history. It was Freud who coined the term 'narcissism' in memory of the character of the Greek mythology Narcissus. There have always been self-centered people, vain and delighted to have known each other, but never before had there been such a quantity per square meter.
According to studies, narcissism is linked to a parental education that overestimates children because they are praised excessively and, over time, children believe they are unique. Further, the irruption of the Internet and its derivatives in our lives plays an essential role and has a multiplying effect that transforms the mundane into extraordinary.

Narcissistic behavior surrounds us. Nowadays it manifests itself in selfish people, not very empathetic, sometimes somewhat exhibitionist, who want to be the center of attention and who think they are extraordinary. Even so, experts clarify that those who talk about epidemics exaggerate.

Vocabulary

Blockbuster: Superproducció
Sum-up: Resumir
Heavier: Més pesat
Broadcast: Emissió
Hedgehog: Eriçó
Delighted: Encantat

Opinion

I think a narcissistic person is very well that he has self-confidence but to a certain extent. Because although they have a good image of themselves, they need the admiration of others, and they also resort to defensive strategies such as aggression when they feel threatened superiority.
I think about this topic that people they have to be are valued for their quality of being human, and not only for appearance.

France’s 'Right to Disconnect' Law Isn’t All It’s Cracked Up to Be

Summary
France has opened the way to the need to legislate the disconnection to social uses to protect employees from the labor 'queme'. The reason is for the hyperconnectivity that is invading us without conduct without protocols, without time for us to process its impact. The problem is "anticipatory stress" because being constantly connected to work creates a stress that is not good for the brain or other organs. And this undermines the creativity of people, their capacity for loneliness, their relationships.
Regarding this problem, on January 1, all companies with more than 50 employees must set schedules for connection to mobile phones and Internet, agreeing with the template.
In addition, more than a hundred Catalan municipalities have already adhered to the idea of this disconnection that aims to enable people to recover their life outside of work by creating new job opportunities working from home.

Vocabulary
Undermines: Disminueix
loneliness: Solitud
Watertight: Estanc
Maintain: Mantenir

Opinion

We are in a society that everything is developed through technology. We are many people who are dependent on social networks, and it is more, there are people who have vice of to be in linea on the mobile and can not leave it.

That is why I am in favor of this law that France wants to propose and I believe that it would be necessary to legislate in other countries.

Because disconnecting is good for health.

Rapid urbanization, environmental degradation causing biodiversity loss: Expert
Summary

In the news, it's explain that rapid urbanization, lack of public awareness and environmental degradation are responsible for the loss of biodiversity today. According to Shalini Dhyani, scientist, division of environmental impact and sustainability, National Institute of Environmental Engineering Research.

For this reason, Dhyani criticizes the actions that we do polluting nature
For example, deforestation (which has a direct negative impact on our ecosystem) and the mentality of people who only think of building infrastructure or houses without worrying about the elimination of wastewater, pollution of the oceans and rivers , etc.

As a solution, he proposes to make intelligent use of available land and integrate urban green spaces with urban infrastructure.

Vocabulary

Awareness: conscienciació
Wastewater: aigües residuals
Surrounding: voltants

Opinion

It is important to reflect on the importance of biodiversity and the dangers to which it is currently subjected due to the current unsustainable growth, which may lead to the loss of extinction of animals and species on our planet.
For this reason I agree with the proposition that Shalini Dhyani proposes

THE EDUCATION

Spain allocates the same proportional amount of money to education income as the countries with the best education, in this case Finland.
But how do we invest the same thing but get a different result? So something is wrong with the system, isn't it?

Education in Spain is traditional, that is, it evolves but with the same method in which students are not taught to learn they are taught to memorize, so that many times even if you like a subject, you end up abhorring it.
Comparing it with the one in Finland our system could improve.since there , everything is free: transportation, dining, school supplies, etc.
Taking into account everything that we invest, I think it is important that you can allow the population to enjoy privileges like these.

An interesting aspect is that education is individualized and personalized in each student taking into account that they are smaller groups in addition there is equality between the student of outstanding with which they have difficulties. Finland as Norway (northern part) take into account the curiosity , participation and creativity and I think that in Spain they have to have these aspects present.

WHAT WILL I DO NEXT YEAR?

In principle, I have no idea what career I will do after the second year of high school.

Seeing the exhaustion, stress and lack of social life that I have, I decided that the following year i wil do a year of rest.
But I thought:

It's Three hundred and sixty five days, we are going to do something productive at least. And yes, in the end, I want to plan to get one's driving licence to Figueres, first the theoretical and then the practice (which is more difficult from my point of view, especially parking)

I also want to do English classes on my own online as it is a very important language in the labroal world and although I find it hard to learn it, I like it.I think it's a good idea because

I'll have a year to think about what I like and therefore what I want to do with my life.
Althoug really I wanted to do a sabbatical year but I preferred to get my driver's license (as I said before) since I could go wherever I wanted and not bother my parents to take me in different places

THE GENTRIFICATION

The last days, in the subject of geography, we was study a theme interesting: The gentrification.
And you will ask a yourselfs, what is this?

For to start, gentrification is a process of physical, economic, social and cultural transformation of a formerly degraded or low-class neighborhood which ends up being middle-high class. The buildings are restored or modified, increasing their value, which, over time, expels their former inhabitants, I meant, the poorer with precarious jobs.

For some, gentrification runs through the centers of cities in a process that turns degraded areas or aging into fashionable places with the arrival of new shops, businesses and inhabitants.
In contrast, for others, tourism fills the urban centers of franchises and services designed only for those who spend just a few days in the city.
For experts, the two processes overlap with the same negative effects: The creative destruction of cities.
For me to comment on this topic, it is subjective why, depending on which side you place at the end, define your interests. Even so, I think it is best to favor both, both tourists and residents of the neighborhood.
But the issue is: How can we benefit both sides?
Well, seeing that it is a problem with the price of housing, I think it is best to have a regulation implemented in this regard. Like create a public houses park that keeps prices at bay.
